Judge orders reinstatement of White House press access for CNN, MS NOW, Politico
U.S. District Judge Tim Kelly, a Trump appointee, ordered the administration to restore White House press passes for CNN, MS NOW, and Politico journalists, ruling their ban was likely unconstitutional and blocking enforcement for 14 days.
Kelly rejected the administration’s national security justification for the ban, finding no factual support for the claim and noting the White House lacked clear standards before revoking the credentials without due process.
Kelly said: “The record lacks factual support for defendants’ contention that the revocation of plaintiffs’ hard passes will in fact protect national security or that national security will be endangered if the court orders their passes reinstated while this litigation proceeds.”
Despite the outlets claiming they would boycott White House events in protest, journalists from the banned outlets were present and covering President Trump’s U.N. speech, his meeting with Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and other White House events over the past several days.

34% of college students support using violence to silence campus speakers they disagree with: survey
A FIRE survey of over 68,500 students across 257 colleges found 34% now support using violence to stop a campus speech, up from 20% in 2022, while 71% support shouting down speakers and 54% back blocking others from attending events — all record highs since the survey began.
FIRE described the campus climate as increasingly “hostile,” noting these attitudes have worsened or held steady year over year, with growing intolerance toward controversial speakers on topics including transgender issues and abortion.
Barnard College ranked last for free speech, while Claremont McKenna topped the list, receiving the highest grade of B-minus.
